Judi Kirk, Quilt Judging and Choosing the right category for your Quilt

This event takes place on 4th July 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and will take place at Zoom Talk (online). It is a Guild event being organised by Paula Skillin, Treasurer, .

Region 4 will be hosting a talk by Judi Kirk This is a virtual event via Zoom, live on your sofa. Join Judi for a 45 minute session to learn how quilts are judged and what judges are looking for in the winning quilts. Judi will be placing particular emphasis on choosing the correct category. Following the talk there will be an opportunity to share photos of “questionable” quilts, when we can discuss each quilt and then vote using the Zoom polling function as to which category we think each belongs in. Judi will then give her expert view and explain her reasoning. Judi will supplement the photographs with a few of her own. Please could you send photographs of your “questionable” quilts to Grace Brown, Co-ordinator of Region 4, so that she can prepare the presentation in readiness for the big day. Having successfully completed the Quilters Guild of the British Isles two-year judging course to become an accredited quilt judge, Judi is now a member of the Quilters Guild Judging Committee, with the responsibility of organising the judges for the Festival of Quilts, the biggest quilt show in Europe. Judi has been fortunate enough to help judge Best in Show at the Festival of Quilts for a number of years and has also judged at QGBI Region 2’s showcase at Hever and now at Lullingstone for several years. Judi is qualified and available to judge or jury quilts at any level, from local to international. The event will open at 2.00 pm with settling in time and once we are all sitting comfortably the talk will start at 2.15pm. The event finishes at 4pm. This is a virtual event.
