Unfolding Stories 3 - an exhibition of contemporary quilts

Work in progress by CQ West member Claire Passmore

This event runs from 10:00am on the 27th April 2018, to 5:00pm on the 3rd May 2018 and will take place at Harbour House Centre for Arts & Yoga, The Promenade, Kingsbridge, Devon, TQ7 1JD. It is a Affiliated Group event being organised by Contemporary Quilters West,

A treasured First Communion dress, transformed with stitch; textile fragments, dyed in seawater on an uninhabited Scottish island; and plastic marine debris stitched into cloth are just 3 of the exciting new contemporary quilts being exhibited by members of the dynamic group, Contemporary Quilters West.

Over twenty of their members will be exhibiting their work, including several renowned international award winners (see below).  Many of the artists are inspired by the environment and the local landscape. Each artist tells their own unfolding story. Textiles used in unusual and innovative ways make for a provocative show.

CQ West is a group of 25 individuals who came together five years ago, with the aim of supporting and encouraging each other in our individual working practice. They have a wide variety of artistic skills in contemporary quilting and textiles but have a common ground in that stitch forms a part of their work.

The exhibition opens on April 27th 2018 and will be open daily from 10am to 5pm until May 3rd.  You can meet many of the artists during the opening view on April 27th between 11am and 2pm.  Admission is free, and the venue is accessible - for more details see
