I make traditional quilts, usually in modern ways using quick-piecing techniques. Working out beforehand which way to press all the seams (including diagonals) helps me get them all lined up, to give perfect points (as a scientist, I can get a bit nerdy.......) Many of my designs are available by mail order - there are pages of detailed instructions to help you get a really good result.
I am currently using striped fabrics in everything, to work out how to use them for maximum impact (and make them match!). I also have developed a love of hand-quilting.
As I have recently stepped down to a part-time role in my "real" job, I am now more available again to give P&Q talks and workshops - so do please get in touch. While I was working full-time, I only had time to make smaller items myself, but started buying full-size antique quilts, of which I now have quite a collection - and I can bring a selection to show your Group if they would be interested.
I also run a fortnightly online Heritage Quilt Club to share knowledge and expertise about antique British quilts.
I am available to give talks via Zoom - probably workshops too.
I have now created a website showing my designs, tips and heritage quilts at http://www.carolyngibbsquilts.co.uk/
There is an online shop where you can buy download patterns, study sessions and videos
I also write regular contributions for Bloggers Central and Hints & Tips for http://www.ukqu.co.uk
