Kate Smith

My Guild involvement has been long & varied - I have done time as an Area Rep, Regional Coordinator, Guild Secretary & Trustee ( twice), Conference Manager and Library Officer. I was gratified at the Dundee AGM & Conference in 2012 to be given Honorary Membership of the Guild. Living in York I was a Trustee at the time of setting up the Museum and Gallery and I continued to be a volunteer there doing a variety of things as the need arises. I taught some of the classes, including the Patchwork Basics - which is very rewarding. I still teach one-off sessions for my region and for my own and other local groups

I enjoy all types of patchwork & quilting, but my special love are the North Country Quilts - of which I have a growing collection! I take these to share with groups locally if asked. 13 of them formed the Heritage display at the 2014 (final) Loch Lomond Quilt Show - where it was wonderful to see them all displayed together.

Another interest is bag making and I’ve done a number of sessions introducing others to this as well as standard patchwork and quilting.
